The Mail Drop

Best shipping service in Queens! To get direction and people's reviews, see here:

This shipping service made my day in New York while I was dragging two heavy luggages in a hot sunny day. The clerk was a very handsome Russian young man, who was polite and patient. I promised myself I would blog about this store and spread out the words.

I am stuck ...

In a program for a few days. I think I need to discuss my problems with someone that can help. It's reallyt painful that you cannot make progress before clearing your doubts.

Taipei Exchanges -

 http://www.taipeiexchanges.com/taipeiexchanges.html

Saying goodbye to Frank

Another friend is leaving New York this week. I managed to have a farewell dinner with him last Friday. After that dinner, I felt especially lonely in this big city.

I have decided to leave this city in October, and my next stop will be Netherlands.

Played with python module

while I was solving problems in Project Euler. I also implemented an elegant algorithm to find prime numbers - Sieve of Eratosthenes. Kind of fun.

David is leaving for Florida

Life is indeed unexpected.

Top of the Rock

You will understand what is the best New York has to offer when you climb to the top of Rockfeller center. Today, I did.
I saw the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen in New York and one of the most beautiful night views in the world. New York is stunning if looked from above. This is definitely one of the must-do in New York City. Now I can tell people that I have something I love about New York City.
Photos will be uploaded to both of my Picasa and Flickr photo albums.

Amazon interview questions

I had my first amazon interview this afternoon. I would like to write down the questions he asked me below and solve the unsolved problems later.
First question: why amazon?
Second question: How do you use the 'static' keyword in Java? Can static method access class data member?
Second question: what is an abstract class? how do you use it?
Third question: what is an interface? How do you use an interface?
Fourth question: have you heard of multi-inheritance? what is it? why Java does not have multi-inheritance feature? Is there any problems with that?
Fifth question: when you have a bunch of values/ data, how would you store it (the best data structure you can think of) so that they can be accessed in a very efficient way?
Sixth question: there is a website, and that website keeps a log file on the system. The log file logs a bunch of records. Each record has three fields: (userID, date, pageID). Now we need to parse that log file. Give an algorithm or a program to output any userID that appears with different dates and different pageIDs (which means that user visit the website on different dates and also visit different pages). What is the time complexity of your algorithm.
Seventh question: you have any questions for me?

Amazon interview coming this Wednesday

Let's go for it!!! Data structures and algorithms must be reviewed again. And I also need to practice some important coding problems.

New photos put on Picasa

I put some photos taken in Brooklyn Sakura Park on my Picasa web album. I will put my Bear Mountain and Princeton University photos on soon.

Degree Certificate - GET!

All these two years of torturing and all my parent's money spent for what's been waiting for so long - the final piece of paper - my degree certificate now officially in my custody. I have to admit that I am a bit happy and feeling fulfilled about what I have accomplished so far.
My good is better, my better is blessed.

Housing solved!!!

I just found myself a nice apartment to live in for the next few months in Elmhurst! I guess I am kind of lucky to find such a cheap rent! I hope I can experience a different way of living in New York for the summer!!!

Things I want to learn ...

I very much want to learn Python and Django plus Ruby on Rails. Also I would like to learn YAML. Also I need to strengthen my Java skills as well as review data structures and algorithms I have so far learned.

My last semester in Columbia

now officially comes to an end. Today is my last and only final for this semester. I am graduating in in less than two weeks. Not much to be said about it, not feeling especially excited either. Goodbye Columbia University. Thank you, Columbia.
